Richmond Enterprise Challenge
Launched in July 2018 to April 2019 has been a huge success. We set out to deliver the most comprehensive programme ever delivered across Richmond and achieved just that. We engaged with 3,844 people over 10 months and online platform numbers are growing and has proved to be very successful. 368 people are registered on the portal and we’ve received great feedback from participants who have been able to train in their own time.

Our Mission
- To create a programme of business support that meets the needs of Pre-Start, Start Up and growing businesses. One programme for general businesses and the second programmes specifically focused on Food businesses.
- Build a local economy to get more small businesses connected and working together in Richmond.
- Provide an offline and an online platform where businesses go to grow.
- Provide innovation tools and encourage collaboration with St Mary’s University. We did multiple talks for St Marys and worked with students to start their own business.
- Establish and grow an active community of local businesses, pre-start, start up and SME’s.
- Provide expert led business growth sessions & clinics.
- Work with start-ups to ensure they established proof of concept and create a viable business structure to build a sustainable business.
- Work with Small & medium sized enterprises to help them scale up and accelerate growth.
- Partner with larger local businesses and have them take an active part in mentoring fledgling companies.
- Build a marketing strategy that actively promotes the initiative to ensure wide local community uptake. Ensure business owners understand the support available and are actively encouraged to sign up.
- Build on an existing active community of local food businesses which we created. Provide specialised training, support and advice to people working in the food & food related industry.
- Promote Richmond Council and highlight their support and commitment to the local community.
